Sunderban Tour
Please be aware that as we stay in a local hotel we are subject to booking demands.
During the cooler season there is a high demand for the Sunderbans and it is growing.
Weekends become a difficult time to book as do periods that coincide with local holiday times.
It is therefore preferable to book a tour well in advance and try for Sunday through to Thursdays as there is a better chance to book and it is quieter at these times.
We do not go to the Sunderban area after the end of March and resume tours around October, weather permitting.

· We book launches for the times you want and spend time traveling and walking through local villages.
· You travel by hire car in comfort and are picked up and returned to your Kolkata hotel.
. From the car drop we take you by boat to our hotel and return by boat to our car on the way back.
· You negotiate the length of the tour with us but we do have a 2 night minimum.
· We aim to provide the tranquility a large group cannot provide.
. An English speaking tour guide is available to you and your small group at all times.
Dear friends,
Dear friends,
Just returned from the Sunderbans...maybe it is easier if I just give you impressions...
Left from our hotel in Kolkata at around 8.30AM to travel by luxury hire car to a river port where the main road ends. Then a local boat down a broad river and around an island to the place of our hotel....stayed in the local hotel opposite the Tiger Reserve, comfortable and clean by local standards ...stayed two nights...three days in all....full day occupied largely by a 4 hour launch trip into the Sunderbans with a short walk into the forest and a watchtower... longer trips are available...most time is spent sitting on the launch under the cover of a cotton cloth gazing out into the forest...we did see a few animals and birds but definitely not a tiger...after lunch we had a nap and then went on a village walk for a couple of hours... really fascinating ..I found this just as interesting as the Sunderbans boat ride....both nights were spent mainly in the hotel reading and talking but the local village bazaar has its interests and we sometimes wandered down to the market centre for a tea or local snack...
It is better to go on a weekday as Bengalis in particular flock there on weekends and bookings can be a problem as well as the added noise.
There is a peak season where prices are at their highest. Feel free to ask more questions.
Bookings are made at the time you agree to the tour if the time is then available.
